The compassionate owner of Creative Counseling, Coleen. She graduated from WVU in 2013 with her Masters in Social Work and the rest is history! Once you walk through our doors you will be met with support and empowerment. With a diverse toolkit that includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strengths-based therapy, play therapy, artistic expression, and movement, Coleen guides clients towards healing and growth. But there's a unique twist to their sessions, Coleen often partners with a furry co-therapist, adding an extra layer of comfort and connection. Beyond the counseling room, Coleen finds solace and inspiration in the great outdoors. A passionate nature lover and avid traveler, she seizes every opportunity to explore new landscapes. And while she may not be the biggest fan of running, you'll often find her hitting the trails for a 5k or 10k, sometimes accompanied by the faithful canine companions. For Coleen, it's not just about the miles—it's about the joy of movement and the serenity of nature, perfectly complementing her mission to support others on their own unique journeys, sometimes, in a very creative way.

My passion is to help others conquer the challenges they face in their everyday life, while being welcomed into a safe, supportive, judgement free environment. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy & Person-Centered Approach to help empower others to focus on what is within their control, and how they can control their preferred narrative moving forward in their life. I work with youth & adolescents clients. My goal is to collaborate effectively with my clients & their families, in order to provide effective treatment goals to meet the client's needs. A fun fact about me is that I was a volunteer firefighter for eight years. I also have two chocolate labrador retrievers. I graduated with my Bachelors degree in Psychology from Frostburg State University, and graduated with my Masters degree in Social Work from Salisbury University.

Animal-assisted therapy can be a useful intervention for individuals, groups, or families. Studies suggest that animal-assisted therapy has found positive outcomes and overall improved emotional well-being in those with autism, medical conditions, or behavioral issues. Other studies found that animal-assisted therapy can be helpful for those battling illnesses like depression, anxiety, ADHD, schizophrenia, or addiction. Anyone who dislikes or fears animals or is allergic to them, is not a likely candidate for this particular intervention. That does not mean you cannot see on of our therapists! We are happy to assist in any way!

My mommy rescued me when I was two years old and I have had to learn quite a bit. My mom tells me I work really well with kids and that I help people who have experienced trauma. She also says I can help with other things but as long as I am with humans I am happy to do anything! Maybe I can meet you soon!
